Alright, this has been going on for a while, but I haven't heard one word from wpcentral about these trolls, you know, the ones that talk about their stupid iMac, and blah blah. You should know what I'm talking about. So does anyone know more about these people? And when will they stop? If they talk about their imac, they should do it on imore...

With the Mobile Nations passport, it's easier to post on other forums these days. Can't really do anything if they aren't breaking any rules. If there are certain posters that annoy you by posting nothing but that, I'd suggest you put them on ignore.

Do you mean the spam bots that post on articles?

I think OP is talking about the people that get on here and do nothing but bash WP8 and Win 8 and talk about how great their Android/iOS/Chrome/Mac OS device is compared to it and how they'll never want a MS product because all they do is break. I see these too often as well, but I don't see much of a way around it, right now.

No. This is what I'm talking about:
HarryStyle says:
Love my job, since I've been bringing in $5600… I sit at home, music playing while I work in front of my new iMac that I got now that I'm making it online(Click on menu Home)

Happy New Year!
And similar to this.

I want to see someone from the wpcentral staff comment on this, who's with me?

They can ban the account as soon as they are aware. The mods and admins do a fantastic job around here, unfortunately they cannot catch everything as soon as possible. And of course anytime you see something you can report it, any assistance is welcome. There have been discussions about this in staff forums. I'm only an ambassador, so I don't want overstep any bounds and say something that should be said by a mod or admin. But it is not unnoticed and they are doing what they can.

The first thing we need to do here is review the rule.
• Trolling - Do not post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to provoke users into responding in a negative way. Calling another member a troll is also a form of trolling.
In a way this thread could be looked at as trolling. The hard part of this rule is proving intent. I don't think the OP of this thread is trying to post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to provoke users into responding in a negative way but she could be we just don't know her intent. A quick review of her post can easily reveal her post pattern. These patterns are enough at time to prove intent. No worries here unstoppablekem always posts well.
If you see someone who might be intentionally posting "inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to provoke users into responding in a negative way" report the post. We review every reported post and when we find members who's pattern of posts seams questionable we take action. We support this community we are here to help we will act when we find issues but we need community support. Report the post. This is a Windows Phone community we are Windows Phone enthusiast we will have a forum where we can have civil discussions about WP without others intentionally trying to derail the conversation.
There is a lot more that goes into this. The WPC Mod team discusses these issues every day. The trolls will not stop. This is a public forum. Get a thick skin and use the ignore button whenever necessary. If you take anything away from this first just know we(mod team) are on your side. Second we need your help... report those posts.Want to know the truth about Windows Phone:

Thread title changed. Trolls and spam bots are two different things, any spam we see here in the forums or whatever is reported we deal with immediately by removing the content and member. Front page is a different story as only the editors have the ability to delete posts and ban members there. So this topic is something only Dan, George, Sam,Rich and Krystea can respond to. That is until the forum mods get more jurisdiction over the FrontPage as we cam only discipline members on the forum side.

I understand it is late, but the mods have been granted the power to have jurisdiction over the blogs now too. I don't think we're allowed to exercise that power YET but the best person to ask would be Dave Blake.

The front page uses an external anti-spam measure, but some comments still get through. It's generally pretty spot on and we do remove any that are found when browsing the website. Should you happen to spot any we've missed, be sure to let us know!

To add some additional background to this... Not only do we have spam busting tools in place... but these tools 'learn' over time as well. Our editors and EIC's also have the ability to delete/ban spammers in the comments. PLUS, our forums team has the same ability. So, we have auto detection tools that are deleting and 'learning', and 2 separate teams on-point to bust spam when spotted.
As we go, hopefully spambots will get crushed more and more often... it's a constant battle. But we're on it.James Falconer
