Pretty much every time I press a link on this forum I get an ad pop-up and take over the screen titled something like 'Advertisement: Brought to you by wpcentral.com'.
I've had this 5+ times now in the last 20 minutes. Are you planning to continue to spam users' screens in such an aggressive manner?
May I please request you remove this ad, or at least limit it to only showing once. I have found this website to be very good when concerned with WP news but If it continues I, and possibly others, will be driven away from the website. - 01-16-2013, 10:10 AM #2
What ads?

Completely agree. As if the giant pop up ad isn't enough, the second ad that opens in a new tab just adds insult to injury.
I echo the sentiment that it needs to be removed. I understand websites need ads to for revenue but they should be done in a much more tasteful and less intrusive way.
It reminds me of the old AOL dial-up days where you couldn't visit a website without being bombarded by hundreds of popups. - 01-16-2013, 01:02 PM #4
Adblock.
I close threads to save cats.
The way not everyone can have their own loaf of bread, not everyone should create a new thread!
...and then God said, let there be a search button and there was a huge one on top! - 01-16-2013, 01:04 PM #5
What browser are you using?
Adblock Plus eliminates all of those ads in Firefox.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

Thanks for the heads up here folks, that DOES sound a little strange.
I'm going to alert the tech team, there could be an issue here with an ad partner. Will let you know.James Falconer

It's been going on a few days and it is bloody annoying. Adverts that pop up and take over any part of the screen are not user friendly and if anything will make me want to stop visiting. I'd get them to remove them fully!

For all that are having issues... what device/browser combo are you using?

That's weird because I don't see any ads at all in the metro version of IE10 on Windows 8 Pro x64.

I use Adblock Plus in Firefox, which eliminates ads.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

Yeah I'm talking about using the desktop style/regular IE 10, not the metro one :)

I don't see ads in the desktop version of IE10 either.

Normally I use Firefox, since it's my default browser, and it has Adblock Plus.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)
