I don't want my Location turned on, for battery and privacy reasons. I understand that this will restrict my ability to download/use certain apps, but why would it stop me installing a Twitter client? I don't have Location services on my PC when I post on Twitter, so why would it be necessary on my phone?

After the install when you launch the app it will ask you again just chose cancel. You will be able to make posts you just can't check in from any locations you visit

Yeah the location warning when you download is there on any app that CAN use location services, not that you HAVE TO. The setting for using location is often in the settings of the app, unless location is a necessary function of the app then it may or may not show a setting to turn it off.
