Too many to list. At last count, 46 tiles including the built-in's. HTC Hub is gone (really gone, deleted). Most pinned apps I use at least once or twice a week and several every day. But some, like Maps I just like to have handy rather than scrolling my long list of 150+. If there was a Favorites hub, I could probably put about 20 of those tiles in there, making navigation a bit easier.

Top of the list: communication stuff (phone, people,favorites,messaging,mail(3),BoardExpressPro, Twitt). Next, tasks, reminders, games hub, music, pictures. Then IE, alt browser, search app, maps, RSS readers.
That's followed by two black tiles as a break and then a bunch of apps that I don't use that often but like to have quick access to. Very bottom of the screen is Settings & Marketplace, with a few sports apps and shopping above that. So when I slam down to the bottom of the list I see 8 often used tiles. Slam to the top and I get 7 regularly used tiles. Things are grouped by relevance.
A bit cumbersome. That's why I would love to see a Favorite Apps hub where I could pin apps that don't have live tiles, but I want quick access to. That would cut 20 off the Start screen.

I don't have a ton of apps pinned. 3rd party wise I've got Kindle and Netflix pinned. Would you consider the official Twitter client 3rd party? I've got that up there too.
- 04-09-2011, 12:40 AM #10
WP7 News, Board Express Pro, Twitter, and SlapDash Podcasts.
Other apps I have pinned that may or may not be classified as 3rd party but came from the marketplace rather than pre-installed are:
Microsoft Weather (got tired of Weatherbug's instability with the live tile)
Facebook
HTC YouTube (I really hate fukin Google for having their heads up their a$$es. I know I have a bada$$ YouTube client but HTC isn't the only OEM making WP7s and what others have to use just sickens me) - 04-09-2011, 12:51 AM #11

cool setups all. i may have to set mine up two different ways... when my device is being used as my primary (meaning sms and calls) and when it's pretty much just a data device (wifi-only). when it's wifi-only, i won't need phone & messaging, but would definitely like mail and others that use data.

Turn a photo into live tiles [How To] | wpcentral | Windows Phone News, Forums, and Reviews
Use two tiles and a black photo/image/background. You could visit my personal site (I think the background is #000) and zoom in so the background covers your entire screen, then hit "..." and then "pin to start".

Like RichE said. Or, I just used an Image app to search for "black". Plenty of images popped up, some solid, some tone on tone. Opened the image on the site, zoomed is as needed and pinned to Start, twice. Took maybe 2 minutes.
