My guess is that Nextgen (and Wonder Reader, and any number of other Google Reader app developers) will all end up removing the Google Reader part and instead implement bog-standard RSS support.
It still sucks though; RSS doesn't give me the option to keep up to date and synced across multiple devices. - 03-13-2013, 07:25 PM #8
I've been using Weave for about a month now on recommendation from Laura and it's been great.

Fuuuuuuck
I requested from the dev of RSS Central that he make his 8RT and WP clients sync unread counts using azure or SkyDrive, and he has started working on it!
So as long as you have windows 8, using his client could replace google reader.

i had been using weave, but i hated that if you had to reinstall for whatever reason, that you had to set up all your feeds again.

This fraking sucks. It's the one service I use most often on my phones. Is there a cross-platform alternative? I don't like Pulse because it doesn't keep track of what I've read.

Weave is releasing an update soon that will let you log in with Facebook, Twitter, Google, or MS accounts and cloud sync your feeds. Personally that's likely the direction I'm going.

Well at least thats one less Google service I can cross off my list. I only have Gmail and YouTube left.

Finally, I guess this means that app makers won't be able to advertise themselves as RSS readers when what they -really- are is Google Reader clients. This is great news for people who use RSS but -don't- use Google Reader.

From Twitter: @SelesGames Since Google Reader is going away will you develop a Windows 8 version of Weave that syncs with Windows Phone version?
@lak611 yes absolutely. We hope to have something very exciting to announce regarding that soon
