Might be helpful for anyone suffering from this.

Clearing up the apps under Twitter's (not Win8 People Hub twitter, the web Twitter) settings seemed to stop a persistent sync condition.

Today, my Nokia 920 suddenly heated up and the battery starting draining around 20% per hour. Did a quick check thru my email & accounts and found that my Microsoft account [I]and[I] my Twitter account kept syncing again and again. Nothing crashed when I opened my outlook email or the People Hub and I received notifications as per normal.

So I went over to my Twitter account via desktop web browser and deleted every app that I have stopped using. There should only be 1 Windows Phone 8 app for the People Hub twitter link.
