This pic was posted on Nokia Facebook Page. I don't have a Lumia Device, but I have used one, and I am pretty sure I haven't seen this before. Can any body please share some light on this? Is this the notification centre? What you think?

Nope it's just the hone screen with only messages and phone pinned on and both are large tiles. :(

Is it possible to have that large blank space above tiles?

It doesn't look like a notification centre to me. After all there is only two sections and the messages section hasn't got anything to notify the user of anyway.

I also thought the same at first that these are just two tiles pinned to the screen, but then again as @fardream mentioned can we have that much space above the tiles and other thing is the right pointing arrow that bring the app section is also missing from the bottom of the screen.

You can pin a black space website to create gaps.
