So my brand spanking 1-week old Lumia 920 has been giving me grief and finally learned to live with it (first couln't open half of my PDF books, then won't and still won't connect to my work network). Now I noticed the supposedly buttery smooth scrolling is not that smooth at all. Try this and tell me if it's a WP8 issue or the Lumia's.

On the famous start screen, do a quick but short distance (like half of an inch) swipe up and notice the screen actually moved a few pixels down first before moving up. This happens on IE and many other screens as well.

Yes this is nitpicking but this is precisely the level of details I expect MS to pay attention to.

I just tried it on my 920 and it didn't move down at all. Smoothly scrolled up.

I'm not seeing this behavior on my 920 either. I only have like 1 1/2 screens of tiles pinned.

Found out that it's the "Screen magnifier" causing it. I set it ON in order to use zooming on "Nokia Reading". Turning it off got rid of the jerking motion.
