    title says it all? Anyone know of a way to get an animated avatar on the lock screen?

    Not that I know of, but I like your idea. Maybe you could take a screenshot of him and make it your lock screen image. Or do you mean he would be animated too, doing his little dances? That would be sweet but I don't think the lock screen can do animations.
