That Nexus is a beast! $349 off contract gets you a top tier phone, and since its a true Nexus, it bypasses all the carrier crape are and gets updates direct from Google. The true Android experience!
And yes, I consider it top tier even without LTE. It's a GSM device, and very little LTE has rolled out for GSM, at least in the USA. Since HSPA+ is faster than most home DSL, I'd say its a win.I carry a fleet!

The nexus is a game changer. Not for the hardware, but the idea of a phone where nobody is making profit on the hardware.
Personally i think this is one of the worst possible ideas, and will kill innovation in the mobile industry, but its still a game changer.
