    OK, so I found the alarm clock, that was easy. But where do I find the stop watch and the timer? I use those much more often than I use the alarm...

    No you don't pay. It is free. Tap on "Try" not "Buy".

    I use 7StopWatch. Free, very simply and does what it's supposed to. Don't think it has any useful live tile though, but runs in the background.
