Hello,
I read the news about WhatsApp being released by the end of this week.
What I want to know about is, how does WhatsApp handle the lockscreen wifi issue. As far as MS fixed this problem in the current update, there is no need for WhatsApp to use the "music trick". Does WhatsApp know about MS fixing this.
I think it would be ashamed if the wifi problem is fixed and WhatsApp implements this trick with the background music.
Does anyone have some information about it? - 12-12-2012, 04:44 AM #2
It will still be using the music trick and may be in a future update once they know that all phones are Porticoed, they will remove it.

I don't think their hack has anything to do with WiFi. They shouldn't care if you are on WiFi or cell data. They do it ss a mechanism for running in the background when the OS doesn't allow them.
Pretty weird hack though. They should just rely on push like everyone else. Can that be disabled?
