Is anyone on WP8 having trouble getting facebook messages (not facebook chat) to work? Someone will send me a message, but I never get any notification on my phone (either through the Messaging Hub or the Facebook app itself). If I log onto the website I have the notice that there is an unread message, just nothing on the phone :(

Sadly, the WP Facebook App from Microsoft is not very consistent when it comes to notifications. Even worst is the missing features. I find that pinning the touch.facebook.com to my homescreen is better than using the Microsoft version of Facebook. If you want to get notifications from Facebook, don't rely on the App, instead you should set your facebook settings to send you e-mails: E-mails arrive consistently!

That's a good work around, thanks win_splash! It's unfortunate they can't get the facebook app working properly though. Isn't it developed by Microsoft using the Facebook API?

If the other person is appearing offline on facebook and sending you messages - you won't get them. He/she needs to be online for his messages to reach you. Why? APIs.

Microsoft is using the Facebook API, but for some reason (which I don't know) there are many features that are just missing from the Microsoft developed Facebook App. Take for example 'Timeline Review' which is when you have your Facebook settings set to require your approval before a post you were tagged in shows up on your wall. You can't go to 'Timeline Review' from within the App, you get the notification and you click on it and it doesn't do anything, you have to go through the mobile site to approve it. Little features like that is what makes the app feel incomplete. I bet you if Facebook developed the official App themselves like they do for iOS and Android, a lot more features would be included. Maybe one day they'll decide to make one for the WP platform.

My facebook messages work pretty well in the Threads. Make sure you set it to Online and just keep your connection alive. Also sometimes if you're also on the computer/ other devices it might not come to your phone

Just to expand on that: Yes, you will get an email, but as far as I remember those are send out 30 minutes after you receive a message. So it won't be an instant email notification. But at least it works reliably.

They are integrated, but not quite the same thing. It's still possible to send messages offline without going through facebook chat. Unfortunately Windows Phone only appears to support facebook chat, not the asynchronous messages system.

Two things i've noticed with the messenger service is that Android Jellybean receives our FB messages sent from people hub but we cannot receive theirs on our phones. Although Android Ice Cream Sandwich works fine. I have several coworkers with HTC EVO/Rezound and I get their messages fine. My older brother has Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and he gets my messages but I dont receive his. My other coworker has SG3 and it's the same situation.

I'm guessing it has something to do with WP8 and Jellybean. I hope this info helps

Second I've noticed that when i add a new FB friend they're not instantly added to my people hub. I've waited a while (~12hrs) for one person to be added so i can sync him to my phone contacts. But this newly added friend its been only several hours and i've confirmed he's my friend on FB but it's not being noticed by People Hub. althought when i go to m.facebook on IE i see him as a friend. These are small little issues but they're very noticeable when you want to message someone right away
