Bell planning to launch two Windows Phone 8 devices, Lumia 920 is not one of them | MobileSyrup.com

Microsoft’s plethora of new Windows Phone 8 devices are slowly being announced. So far we’ve heard from Nokia with the Lumia 820 and the Lumia 920, plus Samsung unveiled the ATIV S. Both manufacturers have stated plans to bring them to Canada “in the coming months.” In addition, a few HTC devices have reportedly leaked online and currently are rumoured to be named the 8X (also known as the ‘Accord’), the 8S and 8V.

Apparently Bell is quite outspoken about their upcoming Windows Phone 8 plans. We received an interesting tip today showing an email between a reader and the Assistant to the President of Bell Mobility stating they have no intentions of releasing the Lumia 920, but will be releasing a couple unnamed devices. According to the conversation it says that “Bell will be supporting the Windows Phone 8 release in Canada with two new devices from leading manufacturers. At this time we are not planning to carry the Nokia Lumia 920.”

That narrows it down a bit… so it certainly looks like Bell is bringing on the Samsung ATIV S and one of the HTC devices. Of course, still speculation until something official is announced.

woop! pretty much confirmed nokia is still going exclusive with providers.... basically crippling itself from a real comeback. such a dumb move IMO.

They never said they are gong exclusive to providers. You don't need the best you know. It's bell's dicision not Nokia's

well Rogers had the Lumia 900 exclusively and telus had the lumia 800 exclusively..... chances are the 920 will be exclusive to rogers and the 820 with telus.

Mind you... removable battery, thinner, bigger screen, expandable memory doesn't sound bad at all. Still I don't see nokia having a come back with exclusivity with providers.

The important fact here is the Bell will actually have WP8 devices!

Yep. That is one reason I cannot stand Nokia being hailed as the primary mover for WP. So long as its strategy is giving one carrier the good device and the rest of them a selection of boring leftover stuff, WP will struggle.

Fortunately HTC and Samsung will likely push on ALL carriers.

It's not Nokia's fault you know. It's HTC's and Samsung's. Stop blaming Nokia for what they done. They basically made Wp known and What did Samsung and HTC do?. release stupid updates that took so long to come

curious "how" you think going exclusive isn't nokia? I worked for rogers for 2 years BUT curious just how you think it all works.

Given polling results about planned WP8 purchases, it's clear Bell just doesn't want to sell WP. As long as they don't have the 920 they'll be able to put their hands up innocently and say "they didn't sell" when they EOL their entire WP line-up 6 months down the road like they did with the HD7 and the Quantum.
