The day Microsoft give me a developer sample ;) honestly that's a pipedream, but I imagine I'll need to get one close to the release day to work on WP8 versions of apps

I've been hanging onto my upgrade since May...
DAY ONE, BABY!

Seeing as how I've sold my previous phone (Galaxy Nexus) and am currently using a 4 year old flip phone, I'll be looking to pick something up on day 1, even though it'll most likely be at full retail price.

Income Tax Time 2013 for me. By that time they will have been on market for a while and will have reviews and forum's section to read to help in decision making.

I'm going to renew my contract in May next year. By then I'll know what WP8 is like and I have probably read every review that's been written. In the meantime I hope the prices for the 7.8 phones have dropped so I can get one of those quite cheap in a month or so.

I'm not technically eligible for an upgrade until at least December, but to quote a Bill O'Reilly tirade, "**** it! We'll do it live!" I'm upgrading immediately upon availability, and I will pay the full cost if I have to, since I'm looking to really promote these to my users at work for the holiday season.
I love having so many choices between Nokia, Samsung, and HTC... So far it seems we're pretty much guaranteed to see 4.x" 720p screens, dual-core processors, and NFC (which admittedly doesn't impress me), so it's going to be entirely based on design likeability and camera quality for me as primary factors, and also whether I can trust the OEMs to release software fixes for the devices since Microsoft has already made it clear I'm guaranteed a means of getting OS updates moving forward.
History suggests Nokia and Samsung are favorable for device updates. HTC has burnt their bridge with me because of the Titan's issues and lack of updates. Even if I blamed AT&T for the update problem, I view it as the responsibility of OEMs to push the updates through to customers. - 09-01-2012, 05:26 PM #9If your looking for Information, be sure to check out: WindowsPhone: Getting started!

I'll probably wait until the dust settles a bit. I do want to read about first impressions on here.
I probably should force myself to hold out for whatever Christmas blowout will surely happen. I want to be sure that both Samsung and Nokia have their top phones available. If that isn't until November, then I may pick one up on Black Friday.Talk to me about Windows Phone, Windows 8, XBOX, art, animation, design, or anything! After I graduate from my university this December because I know if I get these phones right away I'd be distracted from my school work. So for that reason I voted after the dust settles.

I really do not know. I'm happy with the device I have now, and we still do not know all the features that 7.8 will bring.
As long as I am happy with my current device, and there is no huge new feature in a new device that is a "must-have" for me, I'll wait.
NFC is a non-factor for me. I wouldn't trust NFC for monetary transactions anyway. I don't even use tap-to-pay with my credit cards.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

NFC has my interest, but not for financial transactions. I want to do quick file transfers just by tapping my phone to my tablet.
