    Hi!
    I just found that my WP7.8 Lumia 710 doesn't open in the SETTING/APPLICATIONS the PHONE option. I have no idea what could be the problem. I have the sim inserted well, I have great signal strengh, I can make calls, etc, but that menu doesn't open at all. I tried restarting, changing the inserted SIM, but nothing helped.

    Do you have any idea what causes the problem and how could I solve it?

    Did you update it manually, or via Seven-Eighter?

    The problem you have suggests a possible issue with your language cabs. If you didn't do manually, have you tried to do a soft-reset?

    I updated it with the disconnecting method via Zune. I am not precisely sure about soft-reset, if it's a simple restart, than I have tried it a thousand times.

    Then you may need to do a hard reset... This will delete everything on your device. You can backup your device via Zune manually using this XDA thread: [APP] [UPDATED 9/27/2011]V1.9 Working App to Backup Windows Phone 7 via ZUNE ANY TIME - xda-developers in case it doesn't help.

    Edit: Backup your backup first (You'll have your Tango > 7.8 backup available at this moment). "C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update" For Windows Vista/7/8

    Are you sure that this will solve the problem? (Isn't it possible, that the network provider disabled the menu?) Is it sure that this problem is so serious that I must hard reset the device? How many times is it allowed to use the same activation key on my device?
    EDIT
    Zune says it has a restore point...Do you think it would help? I think after restoring the device I will need to update it again :((

    I'm going to quickly check a few different devices and come back to you.

    EDIT: Hmm.. I should have checked the devices earlier, rather than assuming it worked. You are absolutely correct, this doesn't open on ANY of the devices I have access to. I've tried unbranded/unlocked Titan, and Radar, and a O2 branded/locked Mozart. All 3 have this issue, and just to make sure I hard reset my Titan, and found it doesn't remedy the issue.

    EDIT 2: Hard reset does work, read post further down.

    You're welcome, and I'll be doing the same. There is 2 issues I now have with 7.8, this being 1 of them.

    I just wanted to add that this menu works fine on my lumia 710 with tmobile. I updated via the seven-eighter tool to 7.8.

    Weird that 3 phones (The OP, Titan, and Radar) that were updated the "official" way are having this issue.

    EDIT: I tried a hard reset again, and weirdly my Titan now works on the menu. I also did the same for the other devices... ugh, lots of reinstalling and they're too now working.

    A hard reset will work, but you may need to do 2x for some unknown reason.

    I have an unlocked Lumia 710 that I updated by using the Zune/Internet disconnect trick. Phone settings opens fine.

    I had that happen on one of my Titans. I am pretty sure it was on the one I currently have. I did a hard reset after trying to figure out what could be causing the issue, and now that menu works again. I have also just confirmed that it works on my 7.8 updated Titan still.

    Microsoft Customer Service did actually nothing. If I hard reset my device I will be asked my activation key, won't I? How many times can I use it? Thank you.

    No you will not, you'll lose all data on your device, and you'll need to set up your Microsoft Account again. That is all.

    How many times can I use it?
    You can do as often as you'd like, there is no limit on how often you can hard reset your device.

    Note: You'll need to reinstall all your applications, including purchased ones. Press "Buy" and continue, and during the process your device will say you've already purchased, and ask if would like to reinstall.
