The map does not change orientation when I rotate the device or if I change the setting to track North. It also does not track up. Useless.

Just rotating the phone sitting still wont do it you have to be moving try walking around.

Okay I see what you are talking about I thank that setting only effects when you are navigating to a location not in the static maps view. I tested a little I will test more later tonight.

yep, it seems to only apply when actually using the turn by turn directions, not when just using the maps.
