Yep everything about this phone is meh. From the round, uninspired design that doesn't seem to had anything metro on its mind to the hideous Verizon logo.
but it does have those exclusive Nokia apps like draw something, months after anyone cares about it. - 10-29-2012, 10:38 AM #4
Nokia really dropped the ball with this one. they make awesome phones but this looks like it was thrown together last minute without caring.

I'm more curious about the off-contract price, although I'm likely going for an off-contract 8X. I'm guessing $499 for the 822 and $599 for the 8X.

Definitely personal preference, but I'm more than likely going to switch to the 822 as Im buying off contract anyway to keep unlimited data and I will sell my Rezound on eBay. The 8x with 16GB just doesnt cut it... I like carrying all my music (along with other media) without having to rely on the cloud 24/7.
Im going to slap a 64GB SD Card into the grey 822 and take advantage of the exclusive Nokia Apps :) If something better comes along down the line I will sell and get the better phone.
The only wild card to me would be the Ativ S, which I might go for over this. Hopefully we'll find out more today.
I did notice that the black and white versions of the phone both have the Verizon logos in grey. I wonder what color the logo will be on the grey phone itself. WOuld be cool if it blended in more... or maybe if they made it white so its not as pronounced like they did with the grey letering on the white version. - 10-29-2012, 01:11 PM #9
at the MS event they showed this as being $49 wonder if the $99 was a misprint or if verizon is really going to charge that?

It's $100 with a $50 mail in rebate, so $50 at the end of the day.
Some other tidbits for you guys:
Removable back and battery
SD Card slot
Inductive battery doors
Camera comparable to the 8X (rear camera anyway, nothing beats the 8X's front camera)Thanked by: - 10-29-2012, 01:27 PM #12
I like this form factor better. Looks like it'll be easier to hold
I own an LG Optimus G but the majority of my posts are on WPCentral. Go figure - 10-29-2012, 02:25 PM #14
Honestabebread... Instant rebate online? Also can anyone confirm if the 822 has NFC? I can't seem to find a reliable source to confirm or deny it.

Maybe try Nokia's site?

Samsung should sue Nokia for them stealing their droid charge design.

Don't forget to thank and like anyone who deserves it! - 10-30-2012, 08:20 AM #21
The pics of the 822 make it look super thick. I know it is thicker than the 820 (9.9 mm). So I was curious to see how bad it's going to be. I compared the thickness of the HTC Trophy (11.96mm according to VZW website) and the Nokia 822 (11.2 mm according to Nokia website). So it is a bit thinner than the legacy Trophy device. My wife has the Trophy and it doesn't seem that thick at all.

Price is now $99 after a $50 MIR.
As far as I know the inductive back will be sold separately, but the Spectrum 2 is coming with the inductive back, so who knows. There are very informative posts in the Verizon page viewable by customers. Just go to VZW.com, then click explore and look around. The articles hit on price, accessories, specs, etc.Thanked by: - 10-30-2012, 09:36 PM #24
Loving that the 822 gets gorilla glass. I gotta see this unit in person. Build quality as good or better than the trophy?
