I'm pretty sure the answer is no but is there anyway to pin the desktop version of IE as a tile? I prefer it over the standard since I can view what tabs I have open without having to swipe.

Go to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\. Right click on iexplore.exe, and pin to start.

If you go into the setting in the desktop IE, go to the internet options, then click on the programs tab. You can change how IE opens with the first drop down menu. Change it to always in internet explorer on the desktop and apply...metro tile will open on the desktop from now on
