Hi, loving my surface but struggling to read my mobi eBooks. I have kindle installed but can find no way to load local files. Any idea where the local kindle books are stored? If you are not using kindle to read your own local files what reader are you using that is mobi compatible?
Thanks for your help

No, he's talking about .mobi, Kindles only read mobi and azw format books, not epubs.

Hi Guys, I'm new here as I just got my Surface today. Happy with it so far but I have been struggling with the same issue all day. I have approx 10Gb of Mobi files and just cannot find where to put them so they will be picked up by the Kindle app. Really wish the app would read them from the SD card.

Quick update on this and I think I found the problem according to the below link sending personal docs to kindle for Windows 8 is not supported.
Amazon.com Help: Kindle for Windows 8
I hope that gets changed soon. Reading ebooks is one of my main requirements. Could do it on my old tablet whose OS shall remain nameless
