I got the 32gb Surface and am very surprised with how much space the preloaded files take up! I only installed a handful of apps (including the Microsoft Office update) and I found myself only having 5gb left of storage.

I am reluctantly returning my Surface and am contemplating about getting the 64gb version instead... Has anyone else run into this problem?

No. After my updates and a few apps I'm left with 15gb. Of I want more space I'll get an SD card. Not an issue.

I'm at 15.6GB free after installing a dozen or so apps. Did you install a couple large games or something?

I'm down to 9gb free... I just called my local MS Store and they said I could return the 32gb to them and purchase a 64gb that they have in stock. Overall I can't say I'm really pleased with the Surface not indexing the micro SD card or being able to store apps on it.
