Mini 4 beta - you will need to load Java.
And welcome to the forum - the Smartphone Experts "family" is the best on the web! - 08-30-2007, 08:15 AM #4
That would probably be up to you - your expectations. Have not read anyone complaining about it. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

My 6800 has java installed...I think. I have to go to the Java Icon in Programs and click it just to see and start Opera Mini.....
Opera lets me see some sites I cannot with IE, but you cannot import your fav's. That is what is turning me off from really using it.
Ideas???PPC-6800 Noob Tweaker - 08-30-2007, 09:26 PM #7
Dr. - sorry, it comes with Opera mini (or is already there like thejudge said above). I remember installing it for my Treo and assumed you had to do the same for the Mogul - I believe it loads when you install Opera Mini.
I'll find out for sure tomorrow - :p
judge - I believe you have to load the favs - I have not seen a method for doing it automatically.
However, all of the above is an educmacated guess on my part. - 08-31-2007, 08:20 AM #8
I'm using Opera MObile, not mini, because the Opera site said it was the one for PPC, but both you and Claire have said you use (or will use) mini. Perhaps this is the difference? I don't know. I just know It seems to work fine, but I can't say I've specifically been to a site that WOULDN'T have loaded on PIE or without Java, so I have no idea if its doing anything.
**EDIT: Well I'll be a munkey's uncle! My favorite football team's site, www.jaguars.com, has never loaded for me on any phone, going all the way back to the Treo 300.
Guess what?
Sucker's loading now with Opera Mobile!Last edited by DrDoom; 08-31-2007 at 08:25 AM. Reason: Additional Information

Now i'm confused.
I go to Opera's website. I see Opera Mini. I see Opera Mobile. From what i see about each, Opera Mobile is windows mobile 6 version.
Is this right? - 09-03-2007, 08:48 PM #13
Not sure what you meant by your last sentence... The opera mini site does not recognize my PPC6800 with WM v6, but Opera Mini installed just fine for me and Hobbs.
Everyone else, Java was pre-intalled on my PPC 6800. Opera does let me see many other java enabled web sites over IE. Just really bummed about the lack of fav importation....PPC-6800 Noob Tweaker - 09-05-2007, 11:01 AM #14
I'm not talking about browsing there with the device. Use windows.
There's 3 versions of opera. Desktop, Mobile, and mini. It clearly describes the "mobile" version as the PPC/windows mobile 5/6 one. And the Mini one for regular cellphones, palmOS.
One's for smartphones (mini)...ones for mobilephones (mobile..and what should be the Mogul). LOL They need to simplify that..
So which you guys using? Some on here are talking of Opera Mini on the Mogul...shouldn't that be Opera Mobile?Last edited by cardfan; 09-05-2007 at 01:09 PM.

The OpraMini is Java driven....which basically means that it is OS independent (which is why MS has pulled some very dirty tricks against Java in the past). Once installed, you start Java, and then select OpraMini. I have linked Java to my Internet Explorer hardware button to make this fast and easy.
OpraMobile is more like PIE and is OS dependent and can be slower and more memory intensive when compared to OpraMini.
OpraMini in many people's humble opinion is the the faster browser with a smaller memory overhead.
