I have a new Samsung Focus S, and I am having the hardest time trying to get a custom ringtone on the phone.
I have followed all the instructions that are out there, have an MP3 (non-DRM) file that is 37 seconds long, 500kb in size and have the 'Genre' set to "ringtone" (and I even tried "Ringtone"). When I sync it over to my phone, it doesn't show up on my ringtones list in Settings -> Ringtones.
Please advise. Thanks. - 01-02-2012, 06:04 AM #2
Did you check your collection on your phone through Zune and make sure it is syncing to the phone. If it's not there try dragging and dropping it to the phone icons in the lower left corner. I have added ringtones that didn't automatically sync.

I believe the file can only be 30 seconds long, max. Try shrinking it down and trying to sync again.

Same issue here. I have a Focus S as well. Using connector for mac and my music is fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't even show the ringtones I have in connector. I have several that meet the listed criteria. Anyone ever figure this out???

The requirement is under 39 seconds and less than MB. So you might be right on the fringe. Try a 30 second clip as a test to be sure everything else is setup properly. I had no problems when I loaded several up a few months ago.

If I remember correctly, I had to edit the genre to "ringtone" in the Zune client. When I did it using just the file explorer ot didn't recognize it as a ringtone.
