Hello, i just configured GMAIL but when i recieve the mail and read it on my phone, it stays unread on my mac. Do i have to configure IMAP manually?

You could, however, manually set up an IMAP account on your phone, yes.

The problem is that if i configure gmail manually, i have to set it up as an exchange account, loosing the contacts sync.

Did you press the refresh button after reading your mail on your phone? If the mail is unread on your phone it isn't unread on the server till you sync it.

It should fix it, as deuxani said, if you hit the refresh button. WP updates Gmail very slowly so you manually have to do it if you want immediate results.

If you set it up manually, you can choose to sync only contacts from the Gmail account that you've not set up manually.
