I addition to turning off unnecessary things like NFC and giving it time, I'm of the opinion that doing a clean install/factory reset never hurts. Granted, this is most likely a placebo holdover mentality from my days flashing ROMs on android..

My battery life plummeted immediately after installing portico, but soon after it seems to have sorted itself out and i now have good battery life, as i did pre-portico.
