Any fans of this show notice the Nokia Lumia 920s, on the season premiere? I saw the red and black models.

Well, no matter the thread title, I'm really glad that the Lumia phones are getting so much air time on TV.

I'm embarassed to say that on occasion I watch the Vampire Diaries, and the product placement in that show (including a lot of windows phone and android) is shameless. They're in every scene and actually integrate themselves rather clunkily into entire plot devices. Just in the last episode a main character, when asked how they can find out the address of a company, actually theatrically pulls out a windows phone (i think htc) and exclaims: "We could BING it!"

I don't watch the show and never heard of it, but I saw a Windows Phone commercial at the movie theatre. It was the one with Ben the PC Guy challenging the couple at the outdoor cafe to see whether the woman's iPhone 5 or the Nokia Lumia 920 took a better picture at night. Ben had a yellow 920. The woman picked a red 920.
That's the video I saw.
Prior to that, there was another ad that showed off more 920s in various colours and 8Xs in various colours.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

That's not unusual. They did it quite awkwardly in Hawaii 5-0 as well. It was a bit more discreet in Castle.
I know Hawaii 5-0 had some terrible Subway product placements too.
I don't blame the shows because everybody is skipping the commercials now days. Just wish they could do a better job of writing them into the story. It's almost like watching Truman Show where she would stop doing everything she was doing and looked at the camera and did a commercial while he sat there staring at her wondering what she was doing.

I was watching a program today (I think it was Emmerdale) and spotted someone looking at pictures on a phone with a bright blue back. Could tell by the design it was a Nokia Lumia.

And it was on Castle - 01-16-2013, 07:58 PM #19
The show Elementary had Sherlock use a Surface and Bing to look up something. Slightly awkward, but showed the stuff nicely.

My wife just gets a kick out of me pausing a show to see if I can Identify the phone in the scene. I get all excited when it is a WP....

Actor1: Yes... (dramatically pulls out Surface) Let's Bing it!
Actor2: Sure, but how can you know you've found the right thing?
Actor1: Easy! Just upload the images to SkyDrive!
Actor2: You're right! Let me post a message from my People Hub to tell everyone how easy this was!
Actor1: Awesome! Hang on a sec while I let my kid play with Kid's Corner!
Actor2: I heard it was seen at a local popular coffee shop. Easy to find with Local Scout!!!
Actor3: Hey guys! I just saw the van we're looking for! Let me share the photo I took of the license plate with NFC(tm) Tap to Send!
Actor4: Wait!!! These phones have XBOX?!?!?!?! OMFG AMAZING(head explodes)....
This has been a rendition of the magic of Windows Phone by the WPC Actors Guild.... minus one. :-p - 01-17-2013, 03:33 AM #24
There's no worse worse offender in product placement than the Bond franchise, everyone and their mum seemed to have those crap sony ericsson phones in Skyfall - Bond, Javier Bardem, the WHOLE of MI6. I still remember turning to my friend in the cinema during Casino Royale and actually saying out loud 'what the F***?!' when in the middle of a scene, the girl suddenly asks Bond:
'That's a very sexy watch.......what is it, a Rolex?'
Bond: 'No, actually it's an OMEGA.'
Oh dear.
I usually mind less when the products are actually decent but those bond phones are abysmal. Loving the lumia presence in Vampire Diaries, but seriously, regardless of your feelings for google - who the **** says the phrase 'Why don't we bing it?!'
