At the moment it looks like the Lumia 920 should be able to work on SoftBank's and possibly DoCoMo's networks. There is some recent news that the India's Lumia 920 is supporting a larger number of operating frequencies than other countries' Lumia 920:Nokia Lumia 920 Specifications - Nokia - India
I've compared this to the iPhone4's and onward freqencies, and there are some CDMA frequency similarities that lead me to believe that the Lumia 920 (India ver.) might also support Japan's au KDDI carrier as well. (This is all excluding the ability to get the carrier to register the phone on its network).
I have a Fujitsu/Toshiba IS12T that is growing long in the tooth, and I'd like to upgrade my phone to a Lumia 920. I'd like to reach out and ask if anyone has had any experience with the Lumia 920 in Japan while being a member of a non-Japanese or Japanese carrier? - 12-28-2012, 09:46 AM #2
yes if you purchase an unlocked 920 you will be able to use it fine there. stick with GSM though, CDMA is nothing but trouble.
