possibly lens flair created with the bright light hitting the lens just right.... otherwise I'd think it was a white balance issue.
Next time you see it... cup your free hand along the sides of the phone as a make shift lens hood. That should keep the flair down..George Ponder

Heading out the door to Grandma's house... post a sample picture and I might be able to see what's going on. If it's more of a color cast over the entire photo, it could be a white balance issue.
I'll try to check back in a little while from the WPCentral App.George Ponder

Your white balance should be either Auto or match the lighting used in the scene. If the white balance is not set properly your colors will be off.Unless defective, the Lumia 920 before Portico, with the white balance set to Auto will adjust itself in most lighting conditions.

yeah...even on auto it still doesnt fix the color change it keeps the shirt purple. so what do you think is it a defect with my phone or is it an issue with lumia white balance. Ive heard there were some problems with the white balance but I dont know if it includes my current problem.

It's the white balance. Use Creative Studio to adjust or choose one of the indoor settings.

So wait a minute... All three of those pictures were taken by your Lumia 920, right? With the first picture taken with the fluorescent white balance setting, or auto? Because the first one looks correct, the second looks like you have Daylight or Cloudy turned on, and the third being auto possibly (it gets indoor auto wrong on occasion).

The way I got the first picture right was by using an ACTUAL fluorescent light which is a cool lighting compared to the yellow light which is warm
lighting. So pictures with sunlight that's either setting or a lightbulb with the yellow tint changes the shirt purple. I'm starting to think its the white balance adjusting to the light. - 12-25-2012, 04:59 PM #22
Home now and can look at the pics on a larger screen than my 920.... definitely a white balance issue. But, remember when you create a warmly lit environment, the white balance will reflect that lighting. It's not designed to counter a warm light, it's designed to reflect it.
So when you turned on the yellow, more warmer light your picture will reflect what you are seeing.George Ponder

Turn off white balance? It's a setting like a dial, you can't turn it off. You can turn off auto though, and switch it to a different setting manually. From what I can tell, there's nothing wrong with your phone. You just need to use the right settings. Messing around and using different colour lights will of course throw the camera for a loop if left on auto.
