Hi ive been taking some indoor pictures, some with flash, some without using different iso and shutter speeds but the pictures are coming out very grainy and errm blunt? Am i missing something here? Outdoor pictures are brilliant.

Yeah I agree, that pic looks kind of crappy. Not sure what's going on there. The indoor pics I've taken certainly look better than this. Have you tried working with your settings a bit?

You are not focusing properly. Make sure to use half-press or screen tap to give the AF system to work. If you press down the camera button in one fast motion, you get pictures like that. Also, try to hold the camera steady. Don't stab on the button. Just gently press down after AF is done.

Tap on the screen method is probably the best because you are telling the camera where to focus.

Or just press the screen to take the picture. The camera will focus, then take the shot. That makes it less susceptible to the natural movement that will happen when you press the shutter button. Maybe try turning off the flash if you haven't already. Not the flash assist, but the flash itself. Definetely leave the flash assist on.

Also, did you mess with the camera settings? I tried to reproduce what you are getting, and I can't do it. Those shots look awful. If you did mess with them, put them back to default (except for turning off the flash, leave that off) and see how they look.

supposedly the camera will focus on where you press on the touch screen... from the link you posted, appears you pressed by the christmas tree? just my guess.. so for a basic shot like this, i'd try using the camera button to shoot, and like people on here have said already, half press so i can focus first, then shoot... you should see better results

Shutter speed was slow at 1/9 seconds due to low indoor light. In that situation, subject needs to be still or you get blurred face like that. Look like she moved a bit for that shot. Use flash or take several shots and pick good one out of it. There's an app that takes multiple shots for you.. called smart something.. sorry I don't have my phone with me and don't remember the title..
