    Hold the camera button, but that opens up the camera app directly.

    Not sure what you are trying to achieve without more info...

    i check my email quite frequently and don't want to have to press the power button a million times and end up destroying it

    Its a Nokia it wont happen except after a long time probably longer tahn you'll be using it.

    Plug it in to or out of an USB charger, or on/off a wireless charger :P .
