when ive close out of my music, paused the song then clicked the back button. hold it done to make sure it wasnt playing in the background.

it still brings up the song when i change the volume

there is an app called 'Stop the Music!' i think thats what you're describing.

that is, when you pause a song its still showing up in the volume drop down? Stop the music will remove that.

I am pretty sure it times out (on WP8) after a while which I hate. Am I the only person who enjoy the fact that the music controls stayed in the volume drop down window forever so I can quickly resume my song when I want?

You mean like what is accomplished by holding down the << or >> button?
