I tried to drag and drop some .3gp and .m4v (no DRM in any of them) onto my 920 only to have the video player tell me it cannot play them. Can WP8 not handle 3gp and m4v, or did I just not transfer them to the phone correctly?

I am going to google the answer to this question, but are 3gp and m4v common formats? Are these files purchased from iTunes?

they're videos recorded on an android. I think both are pretty common mobile video formats...

    I think its mp4 actually, not m4v

Of course one of the obvious ideas is to just upload your photos & video's to SkyDrive and don't worry about it taking all that space on your phone. When I do this I just access SkyDrive and view all I want with no issues...as long as I have a WiFi connect

I've put in some TV recordings .ts files and let my 810 just convert it on the fly by drag & drop method works every time.

I've only had success with .mp4, .wmv, and .avi with Windows Phone 8.
