When I plug my Microsoft account into the replacement phone, will my home screen and apps all download? I'm an iOS convert so any help would be appreciated.

Nope, you will get a list of apps you had installed and be able to just conveniently click and install them from there. Settings in each app will be saved but the configuration of the homescreen will not be automatically set the way you left it.

Yup, what uscdigital said. You can take screenshots of your homescreen, and upload them to sky drive so you can remember your configuration. The screenshot pics will be there when you log into your replacement phone with your Windows ID.
