Could someone who buys a Lumia 920 today from AT&T post a picture of the bands listed on the box? And if it's possible, could you also throw in a T-Mobile (US) microsim and test data speeds? (if it is unlocked out of the box)
UPDATE: We've had a couple of forum members try putting a T-Mobile sim in their AT&T 920s, but it did not work. However it was pointed out that the AT&T 920 shares the same FCC ID with the Rogers/Dev devices. So now the next step is to get an AT&T 920 unlocked (either via AT&T or a third party) to see if a T-Mobile sim works after that.Last edited by Agent-P; 11-11-2012 at 08:54 PM.

Okay, so I may have found the answer. Bad news.

Best bet is to hope and see if Amazon will have unlocked ones straight from Nokia for a reasonable price. Or, just go with another phone. - 11-09-2012, 11:42 AM #5

"If you’re still having doubts about picking up an unlocked international Lumia 920 to run on T-Mobile, hopefully this new set of images will push aside your concerns. We’ve come to the understanding that the AT&T edition of the Lumia 920 won’t have AWS bands thanks to a device breakdown courtesy of the FCC."

That 920.2 is a red flag!! The Rogers devices say 920.3 on the box!(Rogers devices are confirmed to be unlocked and capable of tmobile frequencies) Its not looking too good for the at&t variant to be able to support tmobile... here's to hoping that it does

Man, I don't even know anymore. A lot of people objecting to T-Mo News' findings in the comments.
I'm just gonna sit and wait. - 11-09-2012, 11:55 AM #13

Isn't there a "debug" menu on these devices or something?
None of what's being asked is on the box, etc. - 11-09-2012, 12:05 PM #16
Check the manual to see what bands are listed? Might be a universal manual though...

I went into an AT&T store to try and see if I could open the sim slot and just put my T-Mobile sim in there to see if it worked. Unfortunately they had the sim trays blocked on both display models. So it looks like we'll have to wait for confirmation from someone who actually owns one of these.

I checked the settings of the display Lumias (all colors except yellow) at the Microsoft Store and they indeed allow you to add an MMS apn, so anyone wanting to use these phones with an MVNO and save a boatload of money shouldn't have a problem.

I guess I'll have to be the guinea pig :o
Only thing is when I go to AT&T website to order, it says I have to get a plan(even though I'm buying commitment-free).
How do I get around that?

The booklet says
"Your device is approved for use on the LTE 700 (17), 1700/2100 (4); WCDMA 850(5), 900 (8), 1900 (2), 2100 (1); and GSM 850(5), 900(8), 1800(3), 1900(2) MHz networks. Support for LTE networks may have been disabled on your device depending on your country or service provider."
I have a request in with AT&T to get my unlock code, so far all customer service has been helpful and polite, but they say it will take time to actually get the codes; they're not in any system that they have access to currently.
Note: I bought the phone completely off contract, and I had to provide documentation of that fact with the customer service rep, otherwise I think they would try and thwart my request.
