So I am loving my Lumia, however one thing I noticed is that is gets very hot. I am a bit worried about the longevity of the device as it seems to get hot with minimal stress, 7 minute stopwatch app made it blazing hot. My previous device was an iphone 4 and focus, both of whom didn't get particularly hot except if being stressed.
Another odd thing for me was how laggy the music app is, my focus had no effort to start playing music, but the Lumia seems to lag for 1-3 seconds before starting to play, very odd. I am thinking it is just the app. I am just curious if anyone else is having similar issues. - 11-08-2012, 01:54 PM #4
Is your battery draining really quickly? Usually when a phone gets warm, it's because of the battery.
Phone History (hopefully in order): Samsung SGH-D407 > AT&T (HTC) Tilt > Sony Ericsson W580 > Blackberry Curve 8900 > Sony Ericsson C901 > HTC Touch Pro 2 > Blackberry 9700 > iPhone 3GS > Motorola Defy > Blackberry 9650 > iPhone 4 > Nokia E71 > Dell Venue Pro > HTC Titan > HTC Titan II > Lumia 900 + Samsung Galaxy Exhibit > Nokia Lumia 920 + Nokia Lumia 521 + Motorola RAZR V3xx

Mine gets pretty warm near the top around the camera.
Is your music on your phone? If it's in the cloud, it will take a few seconds to start streaming the song. - 11-08-2012, 02:02 PM #7
Mine gets very hot when it's charging, or it is using the cell radio or wifi a lot. Granted I am having battery issues so we'll see if that is also the issue.

I had that issue with my first Lumia 900 back in the day (y'know, all of 6 months ago). I took it back and got a new unit that didn't have that problem. I think there's simply a percentage of all phones that aren't quite right. I'll keep an eye out for those issues with both of the new 920s I got today.

Mines also getting warm - seems its the case with everyone granted I have been using it quite a bit. It is taking quite some time to charge fully though.

This is my second lumia 920 because the first one had the earpiece speaker break. That phone got hot and my replacement does as well. I think its probably faulty design with the hardware.

My Nokia L820 heats a lot too, especially when I'm using the internet over WiFi, playing some games and watching videos. Although sometimes I don't mind it any more since it's hot in my place, but sometimes it's getting TOO hot that I don't wanna use it anymore to cool it down. Also, whenever I open the messaging hub, the animation of the tiles is not as smooth compared to other app when opening.

I haven't experienced any notable performance issues. The heat is normal and it happens with a lot of devices. But really, you should only be experiencing that kind of warm up with more demanding games. If a stopwatch app is heating up the phone then I'd say that particular app was poorly coded; I'd find something better.
This weekend, however, I did notice my phone getting unusually warm after using the new Facebook Beta for a bit. It didn't register at the time that I should keep an eye on the phone as I was distracted. So I ended up going from a charge of at least 80% to fully drained and dead the next morning.
