both the same conditions no flash and auto settings
I am happy to say I have never seen a camera on a phone that can compare to this in terms of all round usability at any time day or night... and the video is amazingThanked by: - 11-04-2012, 07:09 PM #28
Yup the second one is without flash. The one with flash reflects most what I could see at night. It's amazing how the 920 can capture even more detail that the human eye can see.
I took a few more pics today. Those were taken at around 4PM with the sun setting down.

Sure, here is a zip with a few more pics. It's 24 MB.

Thanks a lot! Those are the first photos that I have seen so far that are taken in what I consider good lighting :) Very nice.
Before I write this, I just want to say that I am really picking here... the photos look fine vs. the overall industry standard.
So, what I am seeing is a little softness on the right side of the frame.. something my N8 suffers from as well, and it was concluded that it was an optics issue. I have no idea if this is the case here... the auto focus might be acting up as well.
The middle of the frame looks good.. there is potential for sure. There isn't a lot of noise in the sky, which is where you would usually see it in pics from small sensors, so that is good.
They need to work on software for sure, I don't think they are getting the maximum from the hardware with this current firmware.
Thanks again for uploading those :) - 11-04-2012, 11:50 PM

Ehhh, no HDR option in L920?
I hope they will add it as lens to the functionality, or as core option later on.
HDR did miracles on the iPhone, really appreciate this otpion :) - 11-05-2012, 09:40 AM #38
Ya.. better white balance, better contrast... and much better sound recording. The 8X sounds like any other smartphone, tiny and sort of metallic.
Even if the 8x was better at everything else, which isn't the case, I would still go for the 920 just for the sound recording.
Its also a much wider lens...real 16:9 aspect ratio.Last edited by vlad0; 11-05-2012 at 09:52 AM.

Maybe Nokia needs to include a level on the next Lumia device. Holy crap I have not seen such poor photography in some time.
I have come to the conclusion that with decent photography skills this camera can produce some really nice shots. Right here we have an example of what this camera does in the hands of a guy that just walked off the mad tea cups. - 11-05-2012, 02:58 PM #42
They didn't advertise it properly with the 808 either.. ya, there was 1-2 youtube videos, but that was all. Most of the "hype" came from users uploading concert videos on youtube and comparing them to other smartphones...
for example:
Maybe they are not vocal about this time around because its not 100% yet ? Once they enable stereo recording they might do a little ad push..
But still, even in mono.. its way better than anything else out there, except the other pureview phone.. but no one cares about that one so its pretty much irrelevant. - 11-06-2012, 05:15 PM #43

I think a software update is coming from nokia to fix the daylight issue

Can someone with the phone please post a night/low-light shot without the auto-focus light on? I enjoy visiting museums and most of them are very picky about flash, as long as anything lights up I'd in trouble, so I'm curious how the Lumia 920 perform in low-light without engaging the auto-focus light.
Thanks in advance! - 11-07-2012, 10:41 AM #49

No, I'm referring to the flash that went off at 33 seconds into the video, which the Nokia employee describe as "auto focus assist light". So I'm curious as to how the picture will look without that "auto focus assist light" shooting off, cause that will easily be taken to be flash by the museum personnels.
