Think I saw enough to decide this will be my WP8 device. Same form factor but some interesting new additions and tech, including the HD screen. Will be a good upgrade from my 900.

Hopefully, but they didn't bother to mention carriers or pricing.
Phone History (hopefully in order): Samsung SGH-D407 > AT&T (HTC) Tilt > Sony Ericsson W580 > Blackberry Curve 8900 > Sony Ericsson C901 > HTC Touch Pro 2 > Blackberry 9700 > iPhone 3GS > Motorola Defy > Blackberry 9650 > iPhone 4 > Nokia E71 > Dell Venue Pro > HTC Titan > HTC Titan II > Lumia 900 + Samsung Galaxy Exhibit > Nokia Lumia 920 + Nokia Lumia 521 + Motorola RAZR V3xx

Gotta see it in action, need to see what carrier has it and price point. Same for ATIV. Someone is getting my money. It will be one of those two, with HTC given a courtesy sniff to see if they are even in the thought process.
But these look really, really fun. I LOVED the look of that vibrant screen, and we know Nokia will support them."So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work during the days God gives them under the sun."

No doubt I will have one launch day. I understand the SD card disappoints some, but it means nothing to me. It's a big upgrade from the 900. I have never had good luck with Samsung so the ATIV is not an option for me. Even though it does look like a nice phone.
I've always been conservative and thought I was going silver but I'm leaning more towards the yellow now. Dare to be different I guess. :) So the only question in my mind is what color will I get on release day and how much should I spend on cool accessories? - 09-05-2012, 11:52 AM #9
Count me in. I'll be snapping one of these up ASAP. :)

Not a dealbreaker, but not ideal either. I've already personally got 9GB of apps (mostly Xbox Games) on my phone, and that's without HD capability in any of them. Add in the fact that you now have 1080p video capture, plus the device is now high enough resolution that you might actually want to store 720p video on it, and that can run out fast. 32GB is a start, but it's already behind the curve, whereas with an expandable slot, you can just keep adding.
And for music, the more space the better. Zune Pass / Xbox Music will make up for this some, but it's not always ideal (as of right now, you have to search manually for each album, for example. On that note, I'd love if a feature of Xbox Music was to match my collection on my PC, and keep a record of that in a separate 'cloud collection' of sorts, so I could browse through music I like that is stored on Xbox Music servers). Plus, it's not always great if you're low on battery, or out of an LTE area.
I'll still be getting this on day one almost definitely, but the lack of a storage slot is the sole disappointment on what is otherwise a great device. - 09-05-2012, 12:25 PM #11
It's tempting but I'm looking for a smaller device at the moment so it looks like I'm going to have to pass. Even the 820 seems a little large for the screen size of the device. I'd love a device that is the same size as the Trophy but with a larger screen.

It will probably be AT&T exclusive and not on T-Mobile or Verizon... besides doesn't come in cyan. So no go for me. I guess I'll wait this gen out and save my money.

The thing i have been most impressed on hands-on videos have been the PureMotion HD screen with refresh rate 60 Hz, 332 ppi, Sculpted 2.5D glass, RGB, IPS, 2.5x faster scrolling and pixel transition speeds and super touch.
Jury is still out on the PureView camera. Specifications for the sensor do look very nice so i doubt it will disappoint anybody, but wont either have the image quality of 808 PureView?
8.7 megapixels
Optical Image Stabilization
Sensor size 1/3 inch
Latest generation BSI sensor with 1.4 micron pixels

I'm liking this a lot. I might have to jump ship from iOS for this.

I'll get one of these after the new year cause people will be dumping them on eBay for half the cost new. I predict the ATIV S will hold its value better than this thing.
I know they won't be doing any $99 on contract like they did with the 900. Those losses can't be sustained forever. - 09-05-2012, 02:33 PM #19
No way. Too thick and heavy.

I just cant imagine that it does not have micro sd. I thought that was a required spec with WP8. Very disappointed the midrange device has it but they cant put it on the flagship. I am hoping it is an oversight and just not listed. Either way count me in on launch day. Wish they still had Cyan though.

I'm on the fence. I really like the wireless charging and the rest of the specs, but the lack of micro SD support (which they have on the 820!) is a downer. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but it is a factor against. I like the ATIV too.
I'll probably wait and see what other phones are announced from other manufacturers before making a decision. In any event I'll be buying some WP8 phone shortly after release and off contract. - 09-05-2012, 09:52 PM #25
Yup!
Wish it had the extra storage capacity, but everything else that is more than right makes up for it. I will say if anyone from Nokia is reading this you won with your apps, when I compare to the ATIV (and I do not know if there is a chance of an HTC on Rogers? I know nothing about them).
