Hey, I just updated my phone's firmware yesterday and all of a sudden I can't use the internet sharing function. It was working fine before (with the Tango software update, but the old firmware), but now it just says:
Connection not shared
There's no cellular data connection to share right now. Check your cellular settings and signal, and try again.
The phone itself is having no trouble using the internet.. Anyone else having this issue? - 08-17-2012, 01:46 PM #6
Might also be an idea to find someone who hasnt updated and do a video and post it online then notifiy a few WP sites. The more publicity the better.

I have the same problem - internet connection sharing on Rogers just stopped working after the upgrade (running fw: 2175.2301.8779.12222 sw: 7.10.8773.98). There is some speculation on the Rogers boards that it is related to the sw not being 8779.

Strange pdjcrawford - did you do anything different to get sw 8779? Why would we have different OS versions through the same update process? Wierd!
I have read on that most users with 8779 on both s/w and f/w don't have this problem, but they all flashed manually to 8779. Did you? - 08-18-2012, 11:47 AM #13
Still can't get the firmware nor Tango on my Rogers 900.

ICS is working fine on my Rogers 900, using 8779 fw and sw. In fact it was broken before using sw 8773 and I cant remember the firmware but it was a mismatch. I would suspect that the mismatch fw/sw could very well be the root of the problem.
I did the forced update method as only the sw would update, not the fw updateLast edited by Zolutar; 08-18-2012 at 12:09 PM.

I've had my Internet Connection Sharing return the "Connection not shared. There's no cellular data connection to share right now." message with a Rogers Lumia 900 on OS 7.10.8773.98, firmware 2175.2301.8779.12222.
According to a Rogers tech I just got off the phone with, Nokia is "aware of the issue and are working to resolve it." He did have two alleged solutions for me to try (I have done neither yet):
1. Restore the phone to the pre-update version using Zune.
2. Perform a reset of the phone from the Settings|About page.
I'm going to try a reset (after getting ready for it), and will post back with results. - 08-22-2012, 11:42 AM #19

So I rolled back my firmware back to 8107 and now I can't even get the 8773 update anymore.. anyone else can't update now? Hope that just means that they pulled the update to try to fix it..
Then again, knowing Rogers, it probably just means they're pulling the update and deciding not to support the phone anymore :P - 08-24-2012, 09:28 PM #23
I had the similar problem! I installed the new firmware, but had trouble opening the Marketplace properly. So I did the "Restore to previous version" using Zune. When it restored, it got rid of the the new firmware, but it kept the 8773 tango update. So, now the purple hue is back, no flip to silent, and when I plug the phone into Zune, no update available!! I've been on the phone with Rogers and Nokia for the past five days, and no one knows or can help me with this problem! What should I do? I want the update back!! I hate the purple hue!!!! Should I flash the phone? Sorry for the stupid question, but is "flashing" equal to Jail beak? And if I do it, will I get the future updates that Rogers or Nokia would send?

Finally gave in and flashed my phone to 8779 and everything is working fine now. Reinstalling wasn't as much of a pain as I thought it would be..
The guy from Rogers that was troubleshooting the issue with us on the Rogers forum went quiet about 2-3 weeks ago.. makes me think that Rogers is just going to play the stay-quiet-and-hopefully-our-customers-will-forget approach
