I noticed the default account in my calendar is hotmail, how do I change that to gmail? Is it even possible? When I go to calendar settings there are really no options to change. I also looked at account settings under my gmail account and nada as well.

Are you sure you're syncing the calendar from gmail? You'd select this under 'emails & accounts' in Settings - tap the gmail account and you should have an option to sync email, contacts and calendar.

Then you need to open the calendar app, click on the three little dots at the bottom of the screen and tap on settings. You'll be presented with all the calendars you have that are syncing to your phone. Flip the switch for ones you want to show in your calendar - you can even change their colors.

At least that's how it works under WP7.5, can't imagine it's changed in WP8.

I guess when I originally added the account I didn't choose to sync email, contacts, and calendar. Deleted account (once added you can't change that option apparently-didn't see it anywhere), re-added account and chose that option then, now I can choose that account when I go to the calendar. Thanks so much, your advice got me in the right direction.
