The 820 has toughened scratch resistant glass similar to Gorilla Glass. It should withstand a certain amount of abuse but it's not indestructible. The 920 has got Gorilla Glass and I've read of some people who have dropped their 920's and smashed the screens. It's all about the angle of the phone during impact with a hard surface rather than how tough the screen is meant to be. I've a friend who dropped his Galaxy S 3 resulting in a smashed screen too. The point is, glass will always be fragile regardless of what phone we are talking about.

After the horror stories of scratches on the 920 with its Gorilla glass, I am nervous about getting an 820. How does the screen hold up? Any scratches?
I can honestly say my Samsung Omnia 7 has no scratches after months of use with no screen protector.
