My daughter's Lumia 820 keyboard does not have the emoticon selector. I have a Lumia 920 and it is there, but not on her 820. Does the 820 use a different keyboard? Am I overlooking something for enabling emoticons on her phone? Are other 820 users able to see the emoticon selector on the keyboard? Thanks.

I downloaded an app on emoticon, and the emoticon selector appeared in the keyboard. I later on uninstall the app, but the selector still remains and function well in the keyboard.

I have an 820 and its there. Its probably just an input language for the keyboard to enable it (emoji)
