I will start off, by saying that I have an 820 and I have had a lot of problems with downloading music to my 32gb Class 10 scandisk card. I can so some things, but it locks up and does not let me put all my songs on the card. This seems to be a known problem if you go to the Nokia site. Some people don't have any problem and some people have problems.
-can i manage the files & folder in the sd card via pc?
Yes it will show up on Windows Explorer
-can i install apps/games to the sd car?
No, only Music and Videos
-can i open file manager in lumia 820(for sd card storage)?
Not sure.
-how much memory left in the lumia 820 one the first startup without sd card?
Not sure
-can i install apps that come from nokia to the sd card?
No
-if not much memory left in built-in memory, will the performance decrease?
Not sure
-what is the best performance sd card class for lumia 820? i heard that some high class is lag/slower that lower class.
From the things I have read, it looks like Class 4 is the best. - 01-05-2013, 06:05 AM #7
nope, only up to 32.
I have a class 10 64GB card, and it doesn't lag EXCEPT when I want to shuffle all music (8000 songs), it becomes unusable for half a minute then. I doubt this is due to the card, others with a 920 and many songs have reported the same. Saving photos and viewing them is as fast as with internal storage. - 01-06-2013, 03:12 AM #8
-can i manage the files & folder in the sd card via pc?
Yes
-can i install apps/games to the sd car?
Nope, but I think the 8GB is enough for your apps/games (assuming all media stored on the SD)
-can i open file manager in lumia 820(for sd card storage)?
No. No File Manager
-how much memory left in the lumia 820 one the first startup without sd card?
5 GB if you don't sign in with your Microsoft account
-can i install apps that come from nokia to the sd card?
Nope, just like question number two
-if not much memory left in built-in memory, will the performance decrease?
No, not at all, confirmed with my 820 which has 5MB free space
-what is the best performance sd card class for lumia 820? i heard that some high class is lag/slower that lower class.
Of course no, lower class will never beat higher class. But, usually people use lower capacity with lower class, and higher capacity with higher class, thus what makes it slow is the higher capacity. - 01-06-2013, 06:04 AM #10

That's an unboxing recorded with my 820, Class 4 SD Card, only about 150 songs, 720p.
It's about a million times worst when recording in 1080p.
Video choppiness does not occur when recording to phone. You can record to phone, then move it to your SD card via the computer. - 01-07-2013, 06:22 AM #14

In regards to using windows explorer to add / remove data my 820 doesn't play nice, I can edit data on the phone memory but constantly yet an error that the device has been disconnected. When this happens i can no longer sync data using the desktop sync app and need to perform a hard reset. I tried two sd cards (cheap generic one and a sandisk), same error (tho the cheap one wouldn't work at all). Im running Windows 8.

Yeah, absolutely. They both run WP8, and the use the same processor, Snapdragon S4. So no fear of being limited by not enough ram/speed or whatever you call that :-)
Edit: do note though, games can only be installed on the phone, so if you're a heavy gamer, the 8GB internal memory may not be enough for you. 2GB to OS, 3 to 'Others' (app data, caches and etc), you're essentially left with 3GB. Do take note if you're a heavy gamer. - 01-07-2013, 08:32 PM #21

Lumia 820 or 920 :S
cant decide which one, i want 920 is because of
-pureview
-32gb internal storage
-stabilizer camera
-the look
-bigger battery
-better screen resolution
but i what i dont like about it is too big, as a mechanic, phone in the pocket while working have risk of damaging and not comfortable.. :(
and most important thing is 920 having many problems, i wonder 820 having same problems or not...
i want the 820 is because of
-same processor & ram with 920
-led screen which use less power and better display
-removable battery & changeable back cover
-sd card up to 64gb (but which class with no lag?
)
-smaller than 920
-dual LED flash like 920
but it missing pureview, battery too small, and sd card only can store music/video
Tomorrow im going to buy the phone, really dont know which one to choose, please give some advice! Thank you! :) - 01-12-2013, 01:08 PM #23
From the looks of it you've already done your homework. I really think you just need to head into the store to go check them out. I went in to the store expecting to buy the 8X or the 920 and walked out with the 820.
IMO the only knocks against the 820 are the lower resolution screen and relatively low 8GB of internal storage (although I'm hoping MS does something to address the "other" storage issue in WP8 which would render this a non-issue for me).
Things I like:
The in hand feel. The 8X was nice to look at but didn't feel as good in hand to me as the 820. The 920 just didn't feel as comfortable in-hand to me.
While the resolution of the display could be better... the black levels and colors (although slightly exaggerated) are excellent.
I've been really impressed with the camera. I'm sure the 920 is better but I'm no photo enthusiast... I just want something that will capture usable audio/video without me thinking about it. The 820 does.
Battery has been good, if a bit inconsistent, for me (not sure if I've got a rogue app or WP8 still needs some tweaking). I can make it two light usage days if I try.
...I'm hoping the rugged shells show up. I really like the thought of having a rugged shell that doesn't add much girth to the phone but protects it and allows me to save the original as a backup.
