Is there a way to disable the notification bar that comes across the top of the screen for texts and such?

Nope. For third party apps though, yes.

You hate it, I love it.

Microsoft should at least give us the option to disable it. This topic has been covered several times.

I wwouldn't mind as much if there was a privacy setting, like if it said "new text message" instead of displaying my text across the top of the screen...
