Following the instructions posted on this site I have been able to force the updates to my phone up to 8112. I can get Zune to tell me 8773 is available, however everytime I attempt to install it I get a failure with error code 80070017. Any ideas what could be causing this?

That's very odd. Reboot both your phone and PC.

I had the same issue. I haven't been able to install 8773 yet because of it. I am going to try it now though.

Gosh. Sounds like it's a phone issue, not a Zune/PC issue. Maybe do a full reset on the phone, then try again?

I pulled the battery for five minutes and then reinserted it. I will give it another try now.

I've been doing a little research and it looks like error code 80070017 is the result of a corrupt or missing file.

It's happened in the Mango update(http://forums.wpcentral.com/os-discussion/180926-3.htm),

the Xbox Live Marketplace(Error: Code 80070017 occurs when you download content from Xbox LIVE Marketplace),

and a source that I cannot find at the moment, but it was just another example of the Mango update issue and a fix for it.

I did a search for that error code....seems like this is a generic code. See the link below...somebody had this code for a different WP update last year:

Po_MD, sorry you formating your phone did not work. I do have another interesting tidbit. When I plug my phone into my laptop now and do an update search not only does it tell me I do not need to update it also tells me I can restore my last save at any time should I have any problems, and shows me a save file. However when I plug the phone into my desktop and click check for updates I get only the standard "their are no updates available".

Well I tried it. Scared the H### out of me, and still didn't work. I then did a factory reset and tried that with no better luck.
