There is FINALLY something going on on the 8x thread over at XDA. Elite Recognized developer XBOXMOD apparently found a way to flash a STOCK, NON CARRIER BRANDED ROM for the 8X. His carrier is Vodafone, so not sure if this is region specific or not. I would LOVE to try this, unfortunately I don't have a spare backup phone to fool with this, otherwise I'd be all over it. If it removes the restricted M.IP settings, I might have to brave the waters

I would have tried this by now but I don't have a y cable. Also, aren't all the available stock roms for the euro edition? I don't remember seeing any generic US rom.

From what I know yes. However the bigger picture here is that he bypassed the CID. That's a HUGE step towards hacking this phone.
