The 8X reminds me of the black monolith (2001).
Without the soft finish, it would be even more like it.

is the polycarbonate underneath a gloss finish? if it is, you're going to get a ton of micro marring and swirl mark scratches (like on a car) from daily use. If you remove the soft touch finish, i'd recommend applying satin or matte transparent vinyl over the housing.

Someone needs to do this. I picked off some of the flakes to make it less obvious but I'm not sure how smooth it will come off
