Hey guys,
does Skype work for you?

I must say it worked for me after re-installing it, but after some time it stopped notifying me of a new messages, calls, etc.
Do you have any informations when can we expect a stable version?

Same issue. It's buggy. It happens when I go from having a 4g signal to Wi-Fi connection. It seems that the phone does not handle the transition well. For now, a restart seems to fix it.

I got my phone about 5 days ago so I still haven't downloaded skype yet. Is it safe to download skype? I remember in the beginning skype was causing many people to have reboots and stuff. So Im kinda scared to download it

I know it will, but it's not good to publish a new windows phone 8 handsets with so many bugs and such a lack of apps. Better to publish it a little later so everything would work out of the box.
That's why I bought WP8, because it worked out of the box on every YouTube WP8 commercial.

But I really bought my 8X because Microsoft promised that Skype will be integrated and working like a charm + there will be a Nokia navi on all WP8 handsets. For now, I'm an *****.

I'm aggravated with this two. It is still beta, however. Not that MS shouldn't have had the full version out with WP8 launch, but still.

"We're working on it" is not a great experience, and Microsoft has REALLY dropped the ball on this.

I wouldn't touch the Skype app until it's out of "Beta." And Microsoft should really get more resources at Skype working on WP8 development.

Mine works mostly fine, but not good enough. I agree, it should have launched as a gold release with windows 8 phone, I mean really its not like Microsoft doesn't own Skype or anything!

They were busy making the app more awesome on iPhone :p It has received I think two sizeable updates in the past 2 months.

Which brings us back to the question, what is the dev team for WP8 doing? I mean seriously. It's been like 60 days.

No it's not my job to do this. My job pays me enough to buy a Windows Phone 8 and I expect whoever's in charge of the Skype team to do their job promptly.

Tried a video chat the other day and it didn't work. It kept handing up or if connected my video was working but not so much on the other side. Is it true Skype drains your battery in the background? If that is the case I should uninstall it or I wonder if disabling notifications means it won't run in the background. I know its in beta and man when it works great I cannot wait. Looks nice though when someone is calling lol.

I still do not get any notification if someone calls me or chat with me. Status is online however? Does not work even if I start skype and then press windos button to go to home screen. In my case on my L920 it only works when I have Skype on screen, then I can talk and chatt ?
Is it so supposed to be or can I do something to make it real "online" so skype wakes up when somebody calls me or chatt with me ?

Yes. It is supposed to work how you think it should work, in the background. Ensure battery saver is turned off.
