If you don't depend on it, turn off Mobile Data (Settings -> Cellular -> Mobile Data). You'll have to enable it again in case you want to access the internet or you want to send a picture message. Additionally, turn off NFC. This will increase battery life immense.

idk what you mean by screen flexing... when i squeeze the sides (with ALOT of force might i say) i can see the screen warps near where im holding. But it is almost non noticeable.
my only problem with the screen is that it flickers every now and then. Im exchanging it for another device this week.Try out my first Windows 8 app, ModernCalc! It's free and I would love to hear your feedback!

When I climb up on my desk and then jump off onto my 8x the screen does flex a little and it also makes a creaking sound, no more like a popping sound. I'm thinking about taking it back. This is totally unacceptable.

Just got my replacement 8x (the previous had a glitchy screen)
I know exactly what you mean now. One of the corners on my screen are elevated slightly higher and i can push down on it and it flexes a little... might need a third phone.Try out my first Windows 8 app, ModernCalc! It's free and I would love to hear your feedback!
