This is not correct...
A soft reset clears and shuts down all active programs. This can help when the device is running slower than normal or not performing properly
You can do it on this way:
Press and hold the Power key on the top of the device.
Slide down the screen down to power off.
Press and hold the Power key to turn on the phone.
A hard reset will erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, videos, applications, and contacts stored in the device’s internal memory.
You can do it in two ways:
1.From the Start screen, swipe left.
Tap Settings.
Tap about.
Tap reset your phone.
2.Turn off the phone.
Press and hold the Volume Down key, the Power key, and the Camera key simultaneously.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power key.
Continue to hold the Volume key and Camera key for another five seconds and then release.

A forced restart, when the touchscreen is not responding can be done by:
Press and hold the Volume Down button
Then press and hold the Power button
Release the volume down button
(the phone will vibrate once)
The release the power button
This will restart the phone.
