As a junior high math teacher I have written hundreds of lesson plans in MS Word w/ the equation editor. I print notes for my students and use a SMART board to fill in the notes. Is there way to pull them up on a tablet and have the tablet interface appear on the screen through the projector.

I know I can do this with Apple TV and an iPad, but I don't really want to save all my lesson plans as PDF or some other format.

yes this can be done, depending if your tablet has an hdmi port....
you can then establish a connection between the smart board and the tablet
